Pantelleria

Pantelleria, the black pearl of the Mediterranean - a lava island in the Mediterranean, between Sicily and Tunisia

Where is Pantelleria?
Here you can see where Pantelleria is located in the Mediterranean Sea.

How to get to the island?
The easiest way is by plane: direct flights from Verona, Milan, Bergamo, Turin, Rome from April to October and from Palermo, Trapani and Catania twice a day all year round.
Otherwise also by boat from Trapani.

Hiking in unspoiled nature
Pantelleria is an ideal place for hiking through the terraced vineyards where the Zibibbo vine (Unesco cultural heritage) is cultivated.
You can hike on mule trails in the national park or through the barren lava landscape, past endemic plants such as unique species of broom, sea lilac or special species of straw flowers to reach the extinct crater of Monte Gibele  (680 m) or Montagna Grande (836 m).
Pantelleria is a paradise for all those who are looking for a down-to-earth place of power and want to immerse themselves in nature.

Archaeology to discover
The archaeology on Pantelleria dates back to the Neolithic period, around 5 millennia BC.
Because of its strategic location between Africa and Sicily, obsidians (volcanic glass) for tools and weapons were traded from Pantelleria throughout the Mediterranean region.
More than 100 lava rock tombs and the Sesi necropolis bear witness to this culture.

At the water, in the water and along the water
Boat tours, diving and a tour around the island (40 km) along the coastal road on an e-bike are pure relaxation.
The rocky beaches are free everywhere, and the nearest beach can be reached in 5 minutes by car.
As Pantelleria is of volcanic origin, there are several thermal springs and a steam grotto in the open air. There are mud baths at the Venus Mirror Lake, as well as the Favara Grande with hot steams. The Arco (Rock) of the Elephant, which juts out into the sea, and the Balata dei Turchi (once a smugglers' and pirates' refuge) are the most fascinating places where you can stay silent and simply listen to the sound of the waves and breathe in the salty scent of the sea.

The harbor: the beating heart of the island
Want to go to a restaurant or bar? Or just stroll aimlessly? Then the harbor should be your destination! 3 km from the house: about 6 minutes by car or even 6 minutes by bike.
You can also hire a boat there. Or maybe book a boat tour around the island? Maybe even hire diving equipment for your special project? In any of these cases, the harbour is the right place for you!
